In occasione di questo evento speciale, i mondiali, l’Aims si è impegnata per qualcosa di speciale, approfittando della disponibilità offerta dalla Pro Patria Scherma di Busto Arsizio. Infatti, proprio nei giorni scorsi, il Dott. Silvio Longhi, che molti ricorderanno per il suo ottimo lavoro sul trattato of Docciolini (published dall'Aims), has perfected the act of donation to Pro Patria its fine collection of weapons, pictures and accessories fencing. The Pro Patria, through its President, Cav. Cesare Vago, in agreement with the World Cup Organizing Committee, and the Province of Turin, has made available all the precious material for an exhibition of great interest, that theme will be: "From the duel sport - The touch of the sword" . Weapons, and even more rare
related equipment (Piastroni, masks, gloves), relate to the period of transition. Another room in the Palace of the Province (Palazzo Cisterna, Via Maria Vittoria 12, Torino) will be devoted exhibition of documents and memorabilia belonging to some great champions of our fencing Anglesio George, Irene Camber, Edoardo Mangiarotti, Vannetti Masciotta, Antonio Spallino, and families and Filogamo Delfino.
will be printed with the financial contribution of Panathlon International, a beautiful catalog with contributions on the theme of William B. Gaugler, our honorary member, emeritus professor of classical art and archeology at the University of San Jose, California; George Dondero, president of the Accademia di San Marciano, who worked for the ancient weapons of various museums, including the Armoury Reale in Turin, and myself.
